On returning home from my mothers memorial service, I checked on the baby great horned owl that had fallen "or been pushed" from the nest. We had been watching him for 2 days, he was just getting weaker and colder by the hour. It was down to 30 degrees in the UP of Michigan that weekend. Now, it seemed he had given up the fight, so I picked him up to give him a decent burial. He moved slightly, and I realized that maybe there was still some hope. I was able to find a raptor rehabilitator in the area, and was able to turn him over that evening. He is now about 6 weeks old, and is doing great! He may just be released back into the wild.

I just saw this post today for the first time, and it made me incredibly happy! Good job, Suzanne, you saved an animal. |
